The many faces of Forte,
A diverse group of professionals
As a registered charity and a not-for-profit society, Forte is governed by a talented volunteer board of directors drawn from a variety of backgrounds and professions.
Taking on roles in governance, financial reporting, communications, event planning and fund development, there are a variety of ways to get involved with our dynamic company!

Our Board Members

Joe Slabe
Artistic Director
Joe Slabe is an internationally recognized writer, composer and musical director with a Masters Degree in musical theatre from Goldsmiths College of the University of London. Honours include a Calgary Critics' Award for Best Production of a Musical for Touch Me: Songs for a (dis)Connected Age, five awards from the New York Musical Festival for Crossing Swords, and four Betty Mitchell Awards for his musical direction. Joe is the founding artistic director of Forte Musical Theatre Guild and received the 2004 Greg Bond Award for outstanding contributions to musical theatre in Calgary. His last name rhymes with "The Bay".

Krista Noriega
President
Krista is a long time lover of the performing arts and a born and raised Calgarian. The first Forte show she ever saw was the fourth iteration of Naughty…but Nice in 2017 and she’s been to every show since. By day, Krista is an IT manager in downtown Calgary.

Kait Carey
Vice President
Kait received her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Calgary in 2009 and completed her Juris Doctorate at the University of Manitoba in 2012. She then completed her Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin in 2015 where her dissertation focused on arbitration in aviation leasing and financing. She is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Bar Association.

Chelsea Mitchell
Treasurer
Chelsea is a CPA, CA with 15 years of public practice and corporate accounting experience, which has allowed her to hone her skills in financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory requirements, sustainability reporting, and corporate governance. She also has a passion for accounting in the not-for-profit sector.
The performing arts has a close place in Chelsea’s heart, and being a part of Forte has allowed her to support a local organization that fosters a great deal of creativity and inclusivity in our community.

Karina Luterbach
Secretary
Karina a recent graduate (with distinction) in English and Industrial-organizational Psychology from the University of Calgary. She prides herself on being a strong team player, with an independent work ethic, and loves any opportunity to take a challenge and learn something new. She excels at quantitative and qualitative analysis, as well as written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Tessa Baker
Director at Large
Tessa is a CPA with over 4 years accounting experience, having recently moved from public practice to forensic accounting. Tessa has always been passionate about music, and after learning about Forte in 2024 she recognized that joining the Board would be a great opportunity to apply her financial skills to the musical theatre world. Outside of work, Tessa spends her free time performing with local community wind bands.

Steven Bodi
Director at Large
A graduate of Queen’s University with degrees in both Economics and Law, Steven is a partner, M & A and Capital Markets at Bennett Jones LLP. He has been a member of the Forte Board of Directors for eight years.

Penny Hume
Director at Large
A native Calgarian, Penny is a graduate of both the University of Calgary and Henry Wisewood. Now retired, she is the former Executive Director of Youth Central (formerly Child and Youth Friendly Calgary.

Nitesh Kumar
Director at Large
Nitesh is a CPA with over 7 years of experience in financial analysis, forecasting, tax, and full-cycle accounting. His background spans a diverse range of industries including lifestyle services, construction, investment, and real estate. Seeking to apply his skills in a new sector, Nitesh joined an organization dedicated to Canadian musical theatre, drawn by its creativity and community impact. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, hiking, canoeing, and snowboarding.

Stacy Soutière
Director at Large
Stacy Soutière is a Senior Investment Advisor, Portfolio Manager and Financial Planner with BMO Private Wealth in Calgary. She is co-leader of Smith Soutière Wealth Management, a dedicated and strategic portfolio advisory team. Stacy joined the board of Forte Musical Theatre Guild in 2015, intrigued by its commitment to creating and performing exclusively new musicals. In her spare time, she contributes to the educational experience of students on a recurring basis as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

Brad Thompson
Director at Large
Brad Thompson, CPA, CA is an experienced financial executive with over 30 years of leadership experience - most notably a 17 - year tenure at Suncor - he now volunteers and consults part-time, lending his expertise in accounting, strategy and process improvement to organizations that inspire him. Brad brings not only financial acumen but also a patron’s heart to his role on the board of Forte Musical Theatre. Brad is committed to blending creative ambition with thoughtful stewardship, helping ensure the curtain keeps rising for seasons to come.
